Maintenance Work – Gould Street Entrance

In response to ongoing leaks in the School of Performance and other lower-level spaces in the Student Learning Centre, a caulking replacement project to address the issue will begin Tuesday, October 10th. Due of the urgent and disruptive nature of the project, it will be conducted in phases and expected to be completed by November 27, 2017.

The phased approach minimizes the impact but extends the overall duration of the project. With your needs in mind, the SLC will remain open as usual throughout the project, minimizing the restrictions to accessibility by scheduling the most disruptive work on weekends.

This is how you will be impacted:

  • You will experience narrower entry points from Gould Street while sections of the stairs are closed for project work.
  • The flat surfaces of the plaza such as the landings and ramps will be covered with plywood while the caulking dries to allow you to travel in these areas.
  • The majority of the work which requires main access points to be closed will take place on the following weekends:
    • Access through Gould Street Doors closed:
      • November 25 and 26
    • Access to entrance via the elevator closed:
      • November 18 & 19
      • November 25 & 26 (elevator open, but no access to Gould entrance)
    • Access to entrance via the ramp closed or impassable:
      • Note: Accessible route to Gould entrance available via elevator except for dates noted above.
      • October 21 & 22
      • October 28 & 29
      • November 4 and 5
      • November 11 & 12
      • November 25 & 26 (ramp open, but no access to Gould entrance)

The SLC will remain open to students and the community through the closures. You can use the alternate entrance into the SLC by entering at 350 Victoria Street. Proceed to Floor 2 and cross the Library bridge to enter the SLC.

Scheduling this project is critical as the leaks prohibit classes from taking place in the School of Performance and our ability to properly clean the SLC’s main entrance.

We thank you for your patience and cooperation during the maintenance project.
